Elizabeth’s love of animals and passion to understand them began at a very early age. She remembers spending time with her Grandfather on his farm in Connecticut and being constantly amazed at the interaction that took place between he and the menagerie of farm animals which lived there.

It seemed that no matter what the species, her grandfather knew exactly what they needed or what their ailments simply, by watching them. Even the chickens who got daily entertainment from chasing Elizabeth from their coop, responded to his silent and gentle understanding of them.

However, much to her disappointment and her parent’s relief, their upstate New York home was unfit for farming. (Although her father did try his hand at raising Turkeys once- what a disaster!) So, with no place to put a horse and some cows, Elizabeth got her first dog. Her name was Midnight.

Midnight would have been the perfect dog for any child. She never needed a leash. She also sat, spoke and played dead. But, Midnight had one little personality quirk…she hated other dogs…..really hated them. It was then, at the age of 14 that Elizabeth met and was mentored by Dog Trainer Theresa Richmond of Mahogany Ridge.

Theresa’s tutelage and Elizabeth natural ability with dogs allowed for early accomplishments. She took first place at the Belgian Turvuren National specialty at the age of 16, taught her first professional obedience class 2 weeks before her 18th birthday and started consulting privately at 20.

Elizabeth went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Plattsburgh State University. Much of that time was spent on the study of learning in both dogs and people. Her dedication to everything “dog” moved her to attend Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine’s class for Solving Dog Behavior Problems, Cesar Millan’s (The dog whisperer) seminar on How to be a pack leader, Wendy Volhard’s Nutrition and Wellness Workshops, Volhards Top Dog Training School in Syria Virgina and others. She has also trained her dogs in Obedience, Rally, Agility, K-9 Search and Rescue as well as conformation.

It is Elizabeth’s heartfelt belief that there is always something to learn and that animals are our best teachers. Because of this focus, Dog logic opened its doors in 2007 and continues to promote education, understanding and relationship between dog and owner.
